Karl Lagerfeld Dies at 85; Prolific Designer Defined Luxury Fashion

Karl Lagerfeld, the most prolific designer of the 20th and 21st centuries and a man whose career formed the prototype of the modern luxury fashion industry, died on Tuesday in Paris. He was 85.
His death was announced on Tuesday by Chanel.


“More than anyone I know, he represents the soul of fashion: restless, forward-looking and voraciously attentive to our changing culture,” Anna Wintour, editor of American Vogue, said of Mr. Lagerfeld when presenting him with the Outstanding Achievement Award at the British Fashion Awards in 2015.

RIP Karl Lagerfeld.

Definitely one of the greats, up there with Madame Gres, Monsier Balmain, Charles Frederick Worth, and Coco Chanel.

As rough around the edges as he was, the world is definitely a less fashionable place.

That really sucks. I only started to know about him at the very end of last year.

I inherited the Lagerfield cologne from my deceased father, and it sure brings back memories of smelling it in childhood. All these years and it's still great stuff...
