In the colder months, I wear a cadet cap made from recycled wool sweaters. It is lined with a soft knit. I like it for me, although after years of wear it has gone out of shape a bit. I like it because there are several fabrics in it. I think it is interesting.
When it is really cold, or a strong wind is blowing, I have a thick pull on hat made from recycled sweaters. It really squeezes my ears, so I only wear it when it is cold. I hope to locate the hatmaker who makes these to buy a new cadet cap.
In warmer months I use several ball caps and one sun hat. For interesting caps, check out Duluth Trading.
You could learn to use head wraps. I am sure there must be online instructions for this.
Some days I just don't feel like messing with my thin, difficult hair. I have a lot of ball caps, but at my age and with many of my outfits, those aren't the right look.
Does anyone have thoughts on scarves or hats for days when I don't want to mess with my hair, but I still want to look somewhat pulled together? I don't want anything big (like a sun hat). I've even been looking at some of the "chemo turbans," which can be cute, but not sure if that would seem weird for a non-cancer person to wear.
Try a wig. It will do the same things that a hat would, other than keep sun out of your eyes. It's low maintenance. Your scalp doesn't show when you sweat. You can have different styles for different moods.
I love scarves but remember when women wore them like this. We had a name for them back then, Babuska, translation, old lady.
