I only wear flats. I don't see why I should cause myself pain to comply with someone else's ideal.

I wear flats almost exclusively. No reason why flats can't be fashionable and comfortable at the same time.

In other words, you have no idea what you're talking about.

Yes, men have nothing to do with it and you just provided the answer to your own question. Obviously appearances are not ever an important requirement of their duties at your place of work if they go all year wearing anything they want and there's only one time during the year when appearances are important. If there is only one occasion when appearances matter then they're dressing up in heels to go with the rest of their dressy attire that they will surely wear to show their respect for the occasion when appearances are important. Respect for the occasion, get it? Not for each other and absolutely, most certainly not for any men.

Because society-- largely run by men, yes, you're right-- has decided that heels are supposed to be *the* dressy go-to.

men wear ties. everyone wears some kind of professional wear.
Exactly. And ties are considered "professional," are they not? What has that to do with heels?

I'm laughing that you think ties and heels are comparable. I'll trade you...

I can't wrap my head around wearing something like that. It looks like it would annoy your heel after awhile.

They don't. They're typically more comfortable on your heel than shoes with rigid backs.

You tell us. You're the one who felt strongly enough to start a thread about it. You obviously had somethng specific in mind.

OP, if you like heels so much and they reflect your personality, why don't you wear them?

Exactly!

Great post, K12144.

I have arthritis and gout in my toes. My foot/toes will simply not flex to wear anything higher than about a 1” heel. Sorry to any men I’ve offended.

Those low cut in front flats are showing what I call “toe cleavage.” Maybe the OP can get his jollies thinking about THAT.

I personally hate wearing flats (im wearing them right now) at 5ft tall i love my 4 and 5 inch heels but i cant wear them to work, Im in healthcare admin and am already dressed up compared to all the nurses in scrubs, wearing heels would just be too over the top.
