As you know, fashion companies are known to produce specific lower quality items for the outlets, off-price stores, and warehouse clubs such as Costco.
However, what I wonder if there are varying levels of quality between the different types of stores. For example, are the Stein Mart (which is a hybrid of an off-price store and a department store) exclusive items somehow better than the ones made for Ross, T.J. Maxx, or Marshall's? Stein Mart does appear to carry some current season department store items alongside some exclusively made items.
OP, have you ever considered writing a fashion column for a newspaper? I think you'd be good at it. You're a good writer, and you certainly know the fashion world.
