Western wear cowboy shirts. Ever buy them? (color, guys, fashion)

I like the colors and design of western wear clothes
but I never see anyone wear one and I live near several large such stores.
I have a few I wear occasionally.

Stores where I live are in Mexican areas, but I don't see them wearing
it either, even at Mexican festivals where I go to hear music.

They are so unfashionable outside current styles. And they can be expensive.
Guys--have you worn one of the fancy shirts with embroidery?

Yes but it was a long time ago when a pair of Tony Lama cowhides were still $29.95 and I could keep up on a dance floor. As well, my then young wife had a pink western pant suit with embroidery stitching. John Travolta and Debra Winger changed all that though, as did our ages.

Yes, as a kid/teen because I did (western) horse shows in 4-H.

I live in Florida, and see plenty down here. I own a few myself but don't wear them much anymore. Western shirts are classics, and for casual wear they are popular in plaids. Musicians here wear fancier ones.

What time of year do you see people wearing them? They're mostly long sleeve
and are too hot in the summer. You see them at special events?
I never saw one when I was in the Tampa area.

Near Chicago I rarely or never see western clothes, not even on the people who
work in those stores.

SO has about 120, starched, ironed and finger spaced by color hanging in the closet. They range from cotton to hand woven linen, from regular shirt cuts to yokes/smiley faces and hand stitched bead work. $50 to the sky is the limit.
Embroidery and bead work can be heavy!
He wears them with bolos to work and for formal occasions. His coworkers generally do the button down with department store ties.

Our musician friends wear the fancier ones too---the 55 y/o father and his 20-something sons. I notice they wear them all hanging OUT too---that seems to be the trend. They do Rock n' Roll classics.

I had to wear them for years in my job at a Western resort--along with blue jeans. So I would not be caught dead in either one, now. Yuck!

Perhaps it would be helpful if people also said where they live or have seen them.

When I visit TX I see them all the time. To your point about sleeves, generally speaking, the people I know who tend to wear "fishing shirts" in the summer. I visited some family down there and last minute we were going to a country concert. I said "I didn't bring extra clothes to go out" and they said "don't worry we can run out and get a nice fishing shirt".

Quite frankly I'd wear the plaid cowboy shirts because I like the look (I think it takes a certain type of person to pull off the embroidered look), but nobody here in my area of NC wears them.
