I love the way 3/4-length sleeves look, but more importantly, and in agreement with others, I can't stand confining clothing. I don't like short sleeves. I don't like long sleeves. I like sleeveless, or strappy sleeves, or 3/4-length. Whenever I have full-length sleeves on, I find myself constantly, unmindfully, pushing them back, or trying to. I don't think I have one article of clothing with a close-fitting neckline, or "crew neck" style.

Women complain a lot about being expected to wear a high heel to look "business-like," which I agree with (never mind damaging your body/foot structure), but I also sympathize with men having to wear a collared shirt and a TIE! Ugh! I'd feel strangled all day long.

But, in the end, the consensus seems to be, the men come home and take off the shirt and tie; the women come home and take off the bra.

That's how I feel. I'm a bit taller than average, but have absurdly long arms and legs. I feel as though I'm wearing something from the petite department. I don't want to be forced to wear Capri pants and 3/4 length sleeves.

Eh. I have long arms so I don’t mind them. They are a decent spring/fall option.

Well, then, it's a good think no one is forcing you to wear them.

I don't wear sleeveless tops and dresses because I don't care for my upper arms. I see tons of adorable things that are sleeveless but fortunately no one is forcing me to wear those either.

Pajamas are comfortable. Overalls are useful.

I was asking for purely aesthetic reasons. 3/4 sleeves seem to be relegated to women of a certain age or possibly weight. I think of QVC fashions.

I find that irritating.
I don’t think this is true. Designers from Lili Pulitzer to Elie Tahari, with Ralph Lauren and IC in between have 3/4 sleeve dresses and blouses.

No literal "forcing" is going on, but when a certain style (whether 3/4 sleeves or sleeveless or cold shoulder) makes up a significant portion of the offerings, it certainly limits the other available options. And sometimes you do have to settle if you can't find anything else, or else just not buy anything and hopefully your existing wardrobe suffices and lasts.

I really, really, really dislike 3/4 sleeves. I really don't understand the attraction. I don't think they're attractive or comfortable at all.
Lots of people in this thread have explained the attraction (for them, not you).

I'm another one who doesn't have particularly long arms, so long sleeved items are almost always too long and require either the dreaded cuff or expensive tailoring, since I don't sew. Therefore, long sleeves are uncomfortable for me. I also overheat easily, so I often find myself pushing long sleeves up my arms anyway.

My favorite tops are short sleeved. IMO, the very ugliest sleeve length is elbow, it's very unflattering (on my figure, anyway).

I'm with you on disliking fussy sleeves.
