I was recently watching a video of a very high scale mall and holy crap, it's insane how much things can be. For example, there was a watch that was $40,000! Obviously it's mainly just for wealthy people, but, wealthy or not, do you think people that will spend 40 grand on a watch or thousands of dollars on a dress/skirt/purse makes them narcissistic? If you were wealthy, would you spend anywhere close to that on fashion?
Not everyone is as vain and vapid as the Hollywood crowd. If I were wealthy, the money would go to travel, philanthropist causes, fine wines. Save the trashy clothes for people with more money than sense.
Obviously, 99.9% of people here will say they wouldn't and brag about how "thrifty" they are, which is fine, but given how obviously there are PLENTY of people that do shop at these stores, enough to keep them going just fine, other than obviously money, what separates them to most here?
Like do you think anyone here would shop at this mall:

I wouldn't say the stores are doing that great these days. Many of them are closing down, and not just due to competition with amazon. And second hand clothing is a booming business.

eh. I don't know. If I were very very wealthy, I'd be sporting a 6 or 7 carat, emerald cut diamond ring, with trillions on the sides. Or...something similar, but with an Asscher cut diamond instead. Or both. Wear one of them on Monday Wednesday and Friday, and the other on the other days.
I have expensive tastes. I'm fully aware I don't need any such thing...but my money, my rules.

No, but the wealthy are quite often in the spotlight. Sio, they do tend to show off a bit.
There is a difference between being willing to pay for quality, and needing to get your self worth from showing off.
I’d be embarrassed to walk around with a $10k handbag, but I would enjoy a $2k cashmere sweater.
I could see a man buying a $40k watch for a big anniversary gift, if it had diamonds on it. That wouldn’t have to be ostentatious.
