You clearly do not understand that people are trying to help you. Your BF is an attorney. His reputation matters. Socializing is a big part of some attorney's jobs. The gala is at the home of his "oldest partner." I am assuming by oldest you mean his age. Your outfit should be respectful to the host and the event.

"Revealing" can be interpreted in many ways. Generally, it implies showing too much skin.

I googled revealing dress. I cannot post the majority of images as it would be in violation of TOS.
