I have been watching a program that has a presenter who always wears a locket. It looks like a part of her, no matter what the rest of her outfit is, a suit, or jeans, the locket works.
I have a locket that my mom gave me for a graduation gift. I wear it to meetings mostly, those nerve wracking meetings where it serves to reassure me that I can meet my goals. I've tucked it away in the jewelry box because if I lose it, I feel like I would losing a bit of my mom's love and pride in me.
Nowadays I rarely wear necklaces. My go to one has a small sapphire and diamond pendant that matches my engagement ring. I guess it's my go to because it matches most of my outfits and because my husband gave it to me. But I don't wear it a lot.
Do you have a favorite necklace? Is it a sentimental favorite or is mainly stylish? Does it give you a mental boost or make you feel a certain way?
I have many 'New Age' necklaces from my years as a Wiccan. I still wear some of them but not very often. I also have a cross necklace I got as a gift for attending a Lia Sophia party, and worry beads I bought off Amazon. I used to wear earrings every day, and I don't even do that anymore. I've never been into jewelry much. I don't even wear my engagement ring.
My mother had a ring that was three diamond clusters. After my mother passed, my sister had the three clusters made into pendants. She has one, I have one, and my niece has the other. I wear mine 24/7.
I wear a certain fleur de lis necklace 24/7. It is platinum and my husband had it custom made from my first wedding set, which was a marquis diamond and was constantly getting snagged on things for some reason. But of course I did love it so I was glad he had it set along with the smaller diamonds from the original setting.
I get compliments on it often and that makes him so proud! It's just blingy enough without being too big and gaudy.
My mother always loved long, costume jewelry necklaces and so I often wear one of hers which always makes me smile at her memory.
For our anniversary, hubby gifted me a classy single pearl suspended on a silver chain, with matching pearl studs. I love it, and it goes with everything.
I have posted about wearing my grandmother’s diamond as a pendant, which I had reset a number of years ago. It is on a 18” chain and has an easy torpedo shaped clasp. I don’t wear it every day, but I wear it often.
I asked for, and received one Christmas, a long gold chain which I wear with an amber pendant my mother gave me probably twenty years ago. DH and I chose the chain together, and I love wearing it as much as for the associations, as for itself.
For my birthday this year, I had the blue topaz from a ring reset into a pendant. It hangs on an intermediate chain. I enjoy wearing two or all three together. I mean, I get a bang out of it. Or I wear a string of pearls with one or both if the longer pendants.
As an older woman, I feel I can wear as much bling as I want, or none at all.
I have a sterling silver Celtic cross inlaid with Connemara marble. It was a gift from my #5 son and his wife. I wear it 24/7. Behind it, I wear a St. Genesius medal. (Patron saint of actors)
On a very formal occasion, I might wear a single strand of pearls.
Mine was given to me for my 60th birthday by my husband. It is three sterling silver strands, with one perfect pearl about 3" above my cleavage. Classic, but different, and it is the nicest piece of jewelry I have ever owned. (I am not a jewelry person.)
