Most of the time, I try to avoid head-to-toe black. If I'm in the mood of looking tough or sinister and wear black jeans with a black shirt, the shirt has a pattern.
I've heard that almost never works.
It's a mess (has been for me anyway). The dye never fully sets and gets all over the place.
I have had too many battles with black. I prefer browns and blues these days.
You can prevent the black color from getting dull and fading by adding half a cup of white vinegar to the wash water.
It doesn’t help, but it also isn’t always as easy to do now with front loading washers. You have to do the soak first. If you have hard to very hard water, colors just fade more quickly.
I like them. I think they are great for a step above casual attire (regular jeans) and wear with a nice blouse and heels. I also wear them with boots and sweaters.
I ALWAYS have a pair of black jeans-along with blue jeans. My black ones are usually Gloria Vanderbilt and I usually wear them when I want to look a bit nicer than every day but not so nice as a former occasion.
