Don't ask me why, but I gave into the temptation and ordered a pair of Sanuk Fraid Not Flip Flops from Amazon. They came yesterday and I wore them today, expecting to be in a world of pain, based on my past flip flops experience. Oh my gosh, they are were so comfortable. I don't think I've ever wore flip flops like these that don't rub the wrong way and blister my feet. They are incredible! Now I'm hooked into flip flops, which is not good because like many here have pointed out, they are bad for the feet. But now that I found a nice comfy pair, I can't give them up. Oh man, why do flip flops seem more addicting than cigarettes?
Ok I take back my previous post.
I went out walking in my flip flops today and developed a rash on my right foot. Apparently the strap must’ve rubbed it the wrong way. Weird but I didn’t feel anything when I was walking but I just noticed it when I got home.

I've never found flip flops comfortable for anything but a very short walk. I much prefer sneakers unless I'm going to the beach.
I wear these. I find them comfortable and actually give some support. I've worn them with shorts, or pants and usually in a casual atmosphere. Usually I only wear them when it's 90 degrees out when I don't want to wear a full shoe.
Most flip flops are not exercise shoes. But I guess you know that now.
Yeah, but most people here in NYC wear them. Considering that most of us New Yorkers don't own cars and just walk everywhere we go, I can't imagine walking less than 5 miles on a given day. So it shocks me to see so many people outside wearing flip flops.
And 5 miles is not "exercise" by any means. I would say, ideally, we should all be walking 10 miles a day, but that's just never possible since I'm always working...
Your skin is apparently not used to the repetitive contact and friction from walking that many steps with no socks. You may be able to place band-aids over the affected area, but it'll still hurt.

IMO water shoes are more stylish for guys AND more functional at a beach when they get wet.....& protect their feet better....specially when they are near rocks & stones or near the water.

I really wonder how people go to Disney World then. My colleague went there last summer and he walked an average of 15 miles a day, according to the pedometer on his phone.
Being an active walker myself, 15 miles a day would EXHAUST me!! As great of a trip Disney World seems, I fear the crazy amount of walking I'd be doing there. I'd probably collapse.
