Never owned a pair, never a fan of the look.

Owned other flat bottom shoes (some skate shoes - Etnies, Adio, DC), some versions of Nike Air Max, and they are TERRIBLE for any kind of physical activity where you're running around. MAYBE weightlifting. I wouldn't even recommend them for a day at the mall.

One of the fundamentals of a modern running shoe that helps me the most is the foam midsole and slightly curved bottom. Not stomping down on solid, hard rubber thousands of times in a day.

I have been wearing them since I was 14, they are classic. I have kinda high arches so I don't wear them if I am going to be walking a ton

We always called them Chuck's. And they only came in black or white canvas. They did come out with a suede basketball shoe. I had a blue pair, don't remember if there were other colors.
I never wore Converse but I wore PF Flyers and Pro Keds, which were similar to Converse. In the mid 1970s, I upgraded to Adidas and Pumas. I still wear Adidas and Pumas (after wearing other brands in the interim) and I've still never owned a pair of Converse.

While they're not good for running or playing basketball by today's standards, I am told they are good to wear while lifting weights.

Still one of my faves to wear with a pair of jeans.

I had a blue suede pair as well. First time I had them on after about 3 hours of hoops my socks were blue. Design flaw.

My high school daughter wears them, and I have a couple pairs too. I think they still look stylish and are really comfortable.
