Higher thread count is also a culprit. You can have a high thread count, but the threads are teensy tiny, which makes the fabric thin and fragile.
Even expensive garments are now made out of thin, cheap fabric which will barely last a season I can tell in shirts I bought 10 years ago vs. last year.
Overall quality in clothing is just awful.

I've had these tiny pin holes in t-shirts for years. I don't buy the best quality shirts so it could be that.

I don't smoke and don't generally tuck in my shirts. I wondered if it was my seat belt causing it or even leaning up against the kitchen counter while washing dishes.

It's a mystery
