I have a nice little stash of pretty shopping bags from department and specialty stores. They were too pretty to throw out when I got them so I just kept them thinking that I would find a use for them. Well that time has arrived! When I go out now I don't want to worry about one of my good purses getting contaminated and then having to clean it with harsh chemicals so I bring one of my cute little shopping bags to hold my wallet, keys, glasses, etc. Of course it's open on the top so I have to be careful but if I go out now it's just for a quick run to the store or a doc appt (where I would have to lay my purse down while getting weighed) so it works out fine as a tote for the time being and I feel like I'm doing a little recycling/repurposing while I'm at it.
The issue with many totes is that they don't close on top and they don't have enough pockets to organize my phone, keys, office id, etc. How do you manage that? Do you use tote insets?
Yes , most buy a purse organizer - they make them specifically to fit different purses, some people use zippered bags inside the big bag.

That is an excellent idea, I have been running out with a wallet and car keys only, or a debit card and car keys only...I'll try your idea!
I'm trying to find a tote and I can't remember who makes it. It isn't Longchamps (which I have), Bulgari, or Chopard. It's a French brand and it is escaping me. Not Christian Dior (don't get me started on those ugly totes they are putting out there).
Well, I just bought a new (authenticated) Louis Vuitton Neverfull monogram on Ebay. The box was damaged and there are two tiny marks in the lining. It doesn't come with a pouchette as most do but I feel like I got a decent buy. If I don't love it when it arrives I can return it.
I've liked them for a long time so I figured why not. I don't see a ton of them where I live in N. Arizona. Now I just need to be able to go out and use it - who knows how long that will be!

Congratulations AG! Use it in good health and hopefully it won't be too long before we're all out and about again!

Lots of professional men use them that way when they commute with laptops......maybe that's why I think of them as manly. Many of the male nurses I used to work with used backpacks too.
What's the reason you prefer them to shoulder totes tho....or a crossbody? What do you put in it...or is it the style you like?
I mostly use crossbodies and backpacks. I stopped using a tote because carrying a laptop and daily walking/transit commute didn't help. I have an array of backpacks - work and non-work. And of course crossbodies in small and medium sizes.
I like to be hands-free, and if I am carrying some water, the crossbody feels heavy on my shoulder and causes mild pain. I am busty so not all crossbody bags land in the right place.
I have been on the backpack train for a while, but I don't want to look like a teenager, so I choose wisely.
So these are my weekend backpacks!
LV Backpack
Dooney Backpack
And I have sleeker backpacks to use for work and hold my laptop.
