I'm a guy that's about 5'11", so my legs tend to be a bit long and as a result, I have a hard time finding shorts with the right length. Most of my shorts are cargo shorts, but those have gone out of style. Most men today seems to wear the non-cargo style khaki shorts, but the problem is, most store don't have ones that have a 12" inseam. All are 10" or shorter and since I'm a fairly tall person, a 10" inseam short goes way above the knee for me. I was able to find a few 12" ones at JC Penny last year and they're perfect. They hit just right above the knee, which is perfect. But ever since I bought those few, I can't seem to find more. I even tried searching on Amazon and am having such a hard time.
Anyone know where I can order some? I'm not looking for anything too expensive. Hopefully $15-20 a pair.
For starters, 12" is a bit of an odd inseam. 11" is a much more standard industry inseam. So, if you are looking online, you'll likely have much better luck searching on 11" vs 12". 12 exists, but 11 is common (5, 7, 9, 11 are much more common).
Second, 5'11" is not that tall to me. (I say this as someone who is shorter than 5'11 however). Even my friends who are 6'or slightly over tend to wear 7-11" inseams from the ones I know. Yes, leg length is going to vary and so inseam varies. But I don't automatically equate 5'11" to needing a 12" inseam. That actually seems quite long. However, I'm guessing that you are someone who want shorts to cover their knees some.
12 inches is very unusual for flat front shorts except if you are really tall. Even most big and tall flat front chino shorts are 10-11" inches. Usually regular fit tends to be 7-10", and slim fit tends to be 8" or less based on my experience.
Yes, 12" sounds quite long. My husband is 6'2" with long legs and 10.5" which is the longest that JCrew carries almost comes up to his knees. JCrew currently has chino shorts 50% off, which brings them to $35, not quite $15 but not a bad price.
Well either I have really long legs or the khaki shorts I'm trying on at the store run small. Because when I try the 10" inseam shorts at the store, they go about 3" above my knee. It goes way above that when I sit down.
The 12" ones that I currently have literally sit right above my knee when standing up, so they're perfect!

So, have you taken all the suggestions people have already made here to get yourself fitted with the perfect shorts for you?
If you can't find what you want and you won't alter a pair yourself, call around to see about having a long pair of khakis altered. Try a local cleaners. They usually charge less to do these minor alterations than traditional tailors do.

Don't let the stores tell you what's out of style. If a store doesn't have what you want, buy it elsewhere. Being 6'2" myself I stick with: https://www.kingsize.com
