My husband is as far away from being preppy as you can get and he's worn them for over thirty years because they're comfortable and he can wear them without socks.

I don't like the color of the leather in the example, but I am not opposed to the lighter leather.

I think it's fine for dark-colored pants. Or even jeans, maybe.
