What I wear depends on the weather. Is it 90 degrees, 60degrees, 40.....20. Is it raining? Am I going skiing?
How long I am going to be outside can be a factor. I might just put a coat in the car (I prefer not wearing one when I am driving) and hurry into stores, offices, or wherever. I have some lovely coats but find I don't wear them much.
I agree with everyone else that it depends on the weather. I have worn "winter clothes" every month of the year in Wisconsin. Maybe not my thickest winter coat, warmest boots, hats and mittens, but slacks and a long sleeve top & sweater.
My late husband used to have a "rule" about Hawaiian shirts. He could start wearing them April 1st and would stop wearing them October 31st (no matter the weather).
Living in Florida, I might wear "winter clothes" in December or January for a few days each month. And for me, winter clothes means putting on a denim jacket or a sweater. Rarely do we need to wear boots or winter coats down here. I think I've worn my winter coat from up north three times in the last 20 years.
While I miss the seasons, especially autumn, I don't miss the twice yearly ritual of packing up the winter clothes and unpacking the summer clothes and vice versa.
I do the semi-annual wardrobe changeover on October 1. Here in West Michigan, that’s about the perfect time.
