Doing the right thing doesn't have to be all-or-nothing.

No, most of us have no need for fur. If you're living somewhere off the grid, hunting your own food, and then using the flesh and fur for other things such as clothing - sure. But we've evolved past that

My favorite "anti-fur" activism is not throwing red paint on fur coats (PETA) but what Cleveland Amory used to do. He lived in NYC, and when he saw a woman wearing a fur coat, whether he was alone or with someone else, he would walk a few steps behind her and say quite pointedly, "You're right, it DOES make her look fat."
This ^^^! I love Cleveland Amory. Among other things, fur does make women look stout.

My mom had a Blackglama mink coat, and while I would not have worn it, she absconded with it. I guess that's common.

It was more acceptable in the 20s-70s.

I've donated most of my fur coats. I did keep a black leather knee-length coat with fox fur tuxedo trim and also on cuffs. Looks great with a turtleneck, jeans and western boots.

Bought it on ebay years ago.

Regret selling a neat reversible mink and leather bomber jacket I had long ago - purchased at Koslows in Dallas.

I prefer hard wood floors. Much easier to keep clean.

I had a vintage mink stoll given to me that I'm going to make into a pillow.

I also have a coyote collar on the hood of my heavy winter work coat. I killed the coyote as it was attacking my animals. It really helps cut the wind on subzero days. I'm grateful for it.

Someone who has fragile skin from something like serious burns would probably love to have it.

I had some fox ear muffs until my dog chewed then up.

My late husband's mother had fur coats and wraps. They lived on the East coast. The furs went into cold storage in the summers. My DH grew up thinking women wanted Jewelry and fur coats. I had to tell him that it just doesn't get cold enough here. Otherwise yes, if we had lived in a cold climate, I would have gone for a sable coat.

There is a picture of my great grandmother in a fur. It had the heads and tails on it. I see no appeal in that.

Neither me or my GF would wear real fur, and she is pushing me to go 100% vegan these days so I’ll only deviate further from owning any animal derived product. Faux fur, of course, as long as it’s not made in Communist China.
