I have the same picture as in 2010, much less gray and wrinkles, but the keep renewing it. Who cares what the picture looks like? Unless you are early 20s and get carded at bars, the only time it's used is when flying.
The TSA people don't care if your picture is ugly.
This is funny. I am really un-photogenic but my last 2 DL pictures were way flattering.
Even in Texas, lol. Must have been the lighting---blasted away all the wrinkles and age indicators and I look 40 instead of 60. So I keep it front and center in my wallet to cheer myself up.
OTOH, my visa photo must have had different lighting as I look like an 80-yr-old witch---scary! Like someone said, it is SO bad, I show it off for laughs.
Ours are the Real ID and in color. I do remember a staggering amount of paperwork to renew...
Mine is average level awful. I haven't been pulled over in more than 40 years, but I still have to show ID at the doctor's office (where they have a worse picture in my file), at the liquor store, and when I pay by check.
I buy eyeglasses online. The website will take your picture so you can try on glasses. Somehow, mine is stuck on a horrendous photo. It won't let me delete it or take a new picture.
Nice thing about wearing masks; they hide my RBF, and I look friendlier.
Doesn't everyone hate their driver's license photo?
I never did. I actually take better photos in my DL than in other places. The thing is, they try to trick you into take a mug shot by doing it before you are ready so you just have to paste a smile on your face right away so they don't get you.

I do. Intellectually I realize this is a ridiculous thing to be concerned about in light of what is going on with the world. But I've been in a major funk lately about everything. I fly all over Alaska for my healthcare job and fly everywhere on vacation so TSA looks at my picture all the time. I also test for COVID before all my trips so I get IDed for that. I have no nasal septum left But my hours have been reduced and I'm not going on vacation at all. Also, I've hit midlife, am having a birthday, and am becoming concerned about my appearance, which is new for me.
Years ago I had a great drivers license photo
When I went in for renewal I asked if I could keep it
I meant for my next drivers license but they cut it out and just handed it to me
