There doesn't seem to be a good place to put this question about a wool blanket other than in "Fashion" where wool garments might be discussed......

It's time to put away my wool blanket for the season. I would like to run it through the dryer on high to remove dust and lint and kill dust mites but can I do so and the blanket won't lose it's shape or shrink? Is it OK to do this? It wasn't against my skin so there are no body oils on it that might need to be washed out. Maybe a few bacteria but high heat would probably kill them. Has anyone ever done this? I'm afraid of the blanket coming out all messed up.

Do you have an access to the outside? Backyard? Balcony? Porch?
Just hanging the blanket outside in dry sunny breezy weather- would safely dry out possible mites, disinfect, freshen up your blanket for a storage.
Shake it up very well after being in the sun- to remove some dust and lint. Put it in a clean pillow case to protect from dust, but letting the blanket “breathe” while in storage.

If dryer is the only option- use the lowest temperature used for delicates- for a few minutes- you should be fine.
I still would shake it outside before placing it in the dryer. Don’t use dryer sheets.

I don't know much about wool, but the dryer on high heat is going to damage the fibers. You could fluff it on low in the dryer for a short time, but as the previous poster said, if you could hang it outside for a while, try that.

I might run it by the dry cleaners to get a professional opinion. I don't think that wool does very well in a high heat dryer but I'm not sure.
