I was shopping for a birthday gift for my sister yesterday. Wanted to get her something special that she wouldnt necessarily splurge on herself. She is into spas, baths, and stuff like that. I stumbled into L'Occitane at Fashion Square. Holy Smokes! I bought her a small bath gift set (shower gel, lotion, eau de toilette and some cooling hand cream) and a gift box of 2 creams (hand cream and foot cream). Sum total $170! And I even got a free gift. A tiny tube of hand cream and a tiny pod of Shea Butter--->which would have been $18.
Are their products really worth that money? Or are you just buying the name? I loved a few of the fragrances. The verbena (which is what I got my sister), the cherry blossom and the honey lemon.
That's a tough question--and I say this as someone who loves L'Occitane.
I think maybe you have to look at the actual product, and judge on a case-by-case basis.
I enjoy the Olive line.
I also like the shea butter skin care products, as well as the different soaps.
But I only buy L'Occitane every now and then, as a splurge, it is just too expensive. I do enjoy all the free samples they give out.
I really like the lavender hand cream from L'Occitane but I've only purchased it once. The scent was wonderful and lasted a long time but I wouldn't say it was far and away the best product that I've ever bought.
I occasionally buy L'Occitane soaps for myself and for others. They're not as expensive as they seem on the surface. A typical bar will last for almost a year, especially because I usually have two or three bars of handmilled soap going at once. I change bars as I change moods.
For gifts, I will buy one or two items and mix them in a basket with inexpensive accessory items (from other stores) like a pumice stone, nail file, scrub brush, etc.
You can also mix and match your own gift basket right in the shop and they'll put it in a pretty bag for you. Then you can avoid the most expensive items or things you don't necessarily want.
The verbena is also my favorite fragrance. Couldn't afford the home fragrance and had to settle for the soap.
Well - I have used the shea butter when my skin was very dry and damaged and it really works - but I am not that into their other stuff - I really love in The Body Shop - I just discovered their body butters and really love them - especially the Moringa butter - smells divine -
I personally love their products and do feel that they are good quality. I also think they are expensive. On their website though, you may be able to find a good deal here or there. Nice stuff but it's expensive and not for everyones budget - I only indulge once in awhile. The rest of the time, it's Bath and Body works! I love their stuff too!
I think for the most part - Yes. They definately arent cheap. My wife bought Christmas gifts for her employees at L'Occitane and spent major $$$$.
I like pretty much everything Ive tried from them, especially the Cade mens products. Only thing I didnt like was the Cade shaving cream as it didnt really foam up like normal shaving cream.
I've used their almond body lotion..... it is SOOOOOOOOOO nice. It makes your skin SO soft......... the only downside that made me stop using it is it has parabens in a lot of their products. I refuse to use anything that has "bad" ingredients like parabens in them
