Want Your Nails Done? Let a Robot Do It.
Start-ups are using technology to take a robotic approach to manicures, offering a simple way to provide foolproof nail polish. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/06/01/t...ure-nails.html
I think I prefer a human beauty spa worker, although I've never had a manicure by a robot.
I wish, however, for robot pest control. Robots that track and kill insects and rodents in the house, especially in the walls. The robots could also find out how pests are getting into your house and the pathways within, send it to your computer, and give you an analysis of where to seal to prevent more from coming in.
I think most manicure services involve much more than just nail polish. My friends and I go for acrylics, dips, gels, etc - so I don't think this automated nail polisher is going to take off. Also there is an individuality to each set of hands and fingers that require the "hands on" approach of a real person to treat each finger separately.
Weird - not one of you is struck by the oddity of this.
Not sure why we would be. There are robots that map out your home and vacuum for you. Robots that deliver linens to your hotel room. Robotics are used in surgical procedures. Self driving cars. Car manufacturing. The only odd part is why it took so long for someone to come up with it.
I tried a nail art machine wherein you put your hands on the machine and it would print your desired image on your nails. If the robot could do nail art with beads or Swarovski with complicated designs... I'm down!

Not odd at all to me. I can see it working for people who just want a quick polish but there's so much more to manicures than just paint.
The more I think about it the more I think it actually will be successful in some demographics - maybe younger folks who don't have many problems around their nail beds and just want a quick clean up for a night out.
Interesting articles, it’s likely going to be the future way to get a manicure. So much other stuff is automated, but a manicure is better given by a person. The last manicure I got was in Florida and I learned about local beaches, local events and her husband’s slow driving. No robot could compete with that.
