Weather's got colder here, so I started wearing my sandals/flip flops with jeans instead of shorts, I find it very comfy, but I seem to be the only person doing that (along with my gf ).Does it look bad ? Most people (both women and men) wear closed shoes now, and if they do wear sandals they wear them with socks .
This may be regional. It's not at all true where I live (SoCal). In warm weather, sandals are extremely common whether with shorts or jeans, and socks with sandals are not usual here.
To me what seems odd is the idea that people should EITHER wear short sleeves/short pants/sandals OR long sleeves (hoodie, jacket)/long pants/socks/closed shoes, and any mixing and matching is weird and inappropriate. It's not always that cold or that hot. Sometimes it's in between!
In particular, very often in cooler weather I feel the need for a hoodie or light sweater but am not cold enough for long pants and socks.
I have hot feet. I cannot STAND to wear closed shoes unless it is raining, snowing, or colder than 55 or 60 degrees F.
Oh my - as cold as all that?! I guess heat and cold are very relative - what's cold in the south, southwest, southern CA is different than the east or northeast, obviously. And seriously, many people don't actually spend a lot of time out in the elements - instead they're in and out of their car or in one building and on to the next so little real exposure.
A lot of people have really hot feet. My mom is one of them. She rarely wears socks. That said, I am in IL now and have met a lot of people in the Midwest who also say they hate wearing socks. I have been trying to find indoor slippers that provide foot coverage of the entire foot but don’t have the super warm interior. It’s really hard to find them. The problem with some people is that their feet sweat easily, and having sweaty feet will just make them even colder.
Wear what YOU like, and don't worry about everybody else.
I think boots look dumb with short skirts and black socks are awful with sandals. But if YOU like those combinations, I support your choice.
Plus, people are all different.
Some get cold arms, or hot feet, or hate the way their knees look*. They should dress to make themselves comfortable and confident.
* that's me. I can't even figure out what's ugly about my knees, but my skirts and capris all cover those bad boys.
BTW, I think shorts and hoodies have a nice beach vibe, like you've been in the sun all day, and now it's cooling off.
But there have been multiple threads created by different OPs about sandals (excuse me...open style footwear) and what is "OK" to wear them with...shorts, socks, dresses, etc.

I live far more north than that , sandals aren't so common here . Agree, I find that idea odd too. In colder weather I often wear either jeans , t-shirt and sandals , but sometimes I also do the hoodie+shorts combo!
If it looks bad, I don't care. I'm gonna keep doing it! I don't wear shorts, so my sandals (which I wear probably 75% of the year) are almost always paired with either capris or long jeans/pants.
Good thinking. Is there a particular reason you don't wear shorts, or you simply dislike them?

I am the same, I hate socks, if I could I'd wear sandals 99% of the time

Agree with you,Parnassia, I wasn't going to change my style, just reading opinions out of curiosity
I've never understood people who wear sandals and/or shorts when it's cold enough to wear a sweater or hoodie. I see it all the time here in Florida. We get a couple of cold days and everybody is dressed like winter from the waist up and summer from the waist down. For me, personally, if it's cold I want my feet in socks and sneakers or boots. But when it's hot I want my feet uncovered. However, there are a lot of people who don't feel cold when their feet are in sandals.
I guess if it got really cold I would worry about frostbitten toes.
It's harder to layer below the waist. At least, harder to layer in a way that's easiest to shuck layers.
The delta between risk of frostbite and "ain't no one wearing sandals" is pretty big.
Or it's one person with a sandal fetish who's greatly enjoying themselves. The internet is a strange place.
