Are you sure you don’t mean the LL Bean store? I think Lands End is in Wisconsin.
Who knows. I can't remember all the details but I do remember that we went to the Land's End store - when I looked up the sign online I remembered it from the photos we took.
It did seem a bit underwhelming so I don't doubt that the main store is in Wisconsin. We didn't stay long.
All I know is that I got catalogs from both for years and I guess they eventually figured out I will never buy anything from them so they quit sending them.
I was sort of on the prowl for silk long underwear for awhile but I got over that - LOL. I would have bought some in their outlet stores if I'd seen any. Either of them.

I hear ya. The only time I ever went it was mid summer too.
A few years ago my husband and I went to Maine on vacation in the fall. We were so excited because we'd be able to go to THE Land's End store. The mother store so to speak. We went with some sweet moolah because we knew it wouldn't be cheap.
We didn't buy a SINGLE THING. For one thing, all their "summer" clothes were already gone and the summer clothes in Maine are more like our winter clothes here in NE Texas. And the winter clothes they had in stock, without exception, from socks to shirts to hats to boots, were all so hot we couldn't imagine wearing a single thread of them in Texas.
So we just took some pictures of the gigantic shoe outside and just left.
The mother store in Maine is likely LL Bean, no?
Lands End is, or used to be, out of Dodgeville, WI.
Was that catalog ever a win? It always seems a bit stodgy to me.
It's good for basics. I've bought cashmere pullovers and turtlenecks and gloves in the after Xmas sales. I wear their long sleeve cotton turtlenecks under itchy wool pullovers. Practical clothing. Also bought flannel nightgowns years ago until the flannel quality got thinner and thinner.
I just noticed a sweater for sale, not Land's End, on Amazon. It stated the fabric was 'soft, comfy' fabric. So it looks like a lot of places won't tell you what their clothes are made of. Maybe it's better we don't know.
LE tees are longer tailed than Bean tees, but the Bean tees might still be made of more substantial knit. You can get 100% cotton tees from both places.
LE jeans fit me and they are durable enough for several seasons of wear.
I like the cotton cable sweaters from Bean. They are nice quality.
Both outfits make better quality coats than you can find in a department store.

Are you sure you're not thinking of L.L. Bean's flagship store? Land's End only has two stores, according to their website - and they're both in Wisconsin.
Back in the day, I would order men's ties from Land's End catalog. They were a bit pricey, but this was the late 1980s and wearing a tie in the office was what we did then. I was in my early 30s then and wanted to do well in this job! Land's End had some nice clothing, but I agree with Kathryn. Most of the clothing was too hot for wearing here in Texas. I think ties and maybe one shirt is all I ever ordered from them.
I loved the LL Bean catalog and ordered some shoes from them. I lived in the Midwest at that time and needed some shoes for wearing in the snow!
