As a guy, I always thought low rise jeans looked extremely sexy on women. I always have and always will hate high rise jeans, but they seem to be the trend today. Why is that? What was wrong with low rise jeans that made them go out of style?

What makes anything go in or out of style? It's the nature of fashion. The bell bottom style of jeans had a second round of fashion a few years ago and is back in again now....I had thought we got rid of them for good!

My personal problem with low rise jeans is that they always felt like they were falling off. I'm slim and sometimes they were, actually, falling off! Not exactly a comfortable feeling. But I'm not saying that's why they went out of style. They went out of style because that's what styles do. I suppose when a certain fashion reaches the point where "everyone" is wearing it, people decide they want something else. It certainly doesn't seem to have much to do with whether the style is actually flattering on a given body.

They are back in style now….part of the Y2K fashion comeback seen all over social media, like tie tops & baby tees.

I HATE that high waisted mom jean look. It is so unflattering on everyone IMO.

I've liked having a break from seeing butt cracks, butt tattoos and thongs on display.

High waisted mom jeans are a relaxed & baggy fit…Ita. But not all high waisted jeans are a mom relaxed fit ofc.….like a Valentina cigarette slim fit, which shows off our feminine silhouette & can be super flattering AND svelte IMO.

Like many fashion trends over the eons, they didn't look good on everyone, yet "everyone" tried to wear them. What I recall from those days is a lot of women with jeans at mid-hip height and a big muffin top bulging out above. Your observations or recollections a couple of decades since that era seem to differ.

Reason: Muffin top.

You definitely start some interesting threads about fashion.

I hated the high waist pants on myself. May have been a good fit on some women, but in my case the skinny waist would practically strangle my lower ribs while the big butt allowance on them was cartoonish. I don’t have either a high waist line or a big butt. Give me low rise pants any day; they also were made to fit smaller butts well.

I always bought boys or mens jeans for this reason, before the low rise style became common.

But I do remember seeing muffin tops and butt cracks and panties that rose above the pant top. They were probably intended for slimmer women, not “look good on anyone”.

How about mid-rise? Like mama bear - too low, papa bear- too high and baby bear - just right, comfortable rise and look good on everyone. Ooh no that won't satify the fashion industry. Gotta go to some kind of extreme.
