Have always used Woolite. We grew up having a house at the beach; suits were always soaked/rinsed in cold water, then handwashed in lukewarm with Woolite. Hung up to dry.
I hand-wash my bathing suits in a sink with cold water and a small amount of my regular laundry detergent.
