Agreed. That's definitely a fashion upgrade!

Woodstock 1969 > County Fair 2017

Ask your friends to buy you new shirts if they do not like the ones you have.

I do not like to wear t shirts with writing on them. I prefer plain , no slogans, ads, or bragging where I have been. Mine are mostly Lands End solids that are old. However, to each their own. :-)

Event shirts, I would say forever, I mean you can always look back on an event from the past with pleasure.

As a sub category of this, I want to address wearing of championship gear for a favorite sports team. To me this garb has about a 2 year lifespan. After that, it starts to look pathetic....Hey, our team won a championship......7 years ago.

Once it becomes 20-25 years old, it is classic and can be worn for novelty effect. Hey remember the 1985 Bears, they really were a great team....

How long after an event can you wear the T-shirt?
how long CAN you?

You can wear it until either it doesn't fit anymore, or it turns into advanced t-shirt vapor.

The volunteers from the Sydney 2000 Olympics proudly wore their T-shirts for so long and so often that it became amusing. But gosh, the world seemed to be a simpler and happier place then, so good to be nostalgic.

Even though I don't tend to accumulate T shirts on a whim, like most people, I still ended up with a collection of commemorative shirts from events, fundraisers, places visited or lived, etc.

On a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Madagascar I purchased a few shirts with beautiful hand embroidery of birds, lemurs, chameleons, fish, flowers or trees. Local artisans would buy cheap Asian mass produced Ts, then embellish them for tourism income. Each one was unique.

I lived in a really tiny remote unincorporated AK town with the tradition of designing an annual T shirt every year. Shirt sales helped fund town services...each year the proceeds were directed toward a specific one. Residents collected and wore them proudly for years. To own a longer unbroken string of annual shirts lent you a friendly sort of bragging right.

My older shirts eventually wouldn't get worn for various reasons, but I found it hard to get rid of them because of the memories attached. So, I created a T shirt scrapbook. Cut out the logo, decal, or embroidery and attached it to a scrapbook page. Then tossed the shirt remnants or used them as chore rags. Helped keep the closet clear, but still acknowledged fond memories.

The amazing thing is that clothing quality was so much better then, that the shirt is still in great shape. Any inexpensive T-shirt I've bought since about 2000 gets holes after three washes.
I guess that was a very good year. I have a 1987 shirt from a winery.

Better to wear the old T's (IMO) - that were actually cotton than the junk material now.

As long as you want.

There are people who still wear their Woodstock T-shirts from 1969.
