Maybe that's a late reaction looking back to Mao suits? And when everyone wore shapeless gray?
China may ban clothes that hurt people’s feelings
The government is proposing amendments to a law that could result in detention and fines for “wearing clothing or bearing symbols in public that are detrimental to the spirit of the Chinese people and hurt the feelings of Chinese people.” What could be construed as an offense wasn’t specified.
China has built a surveillance state with modern technologies, censoring the news media and social media extensively, even banning displays of tattoos and men wearing earrings on phone and TV screens. The ideological straitjacket is closing in on the private sphere. Personal choices like what to wear are increasingly subject to the scrutiny of the police or overzealous pedestrians. https://u.osu.edu/mclc/2023/09/11/ch...ples-feelings/
There is another weird Chinese trend:
Chinese Women Are Using Fake Belly Button Stickers to Make Their Legs Look Longer
Thousands of women have been paying for sheets of temporary tattoos made to look like belly buttons so that they can apply the tattoo a bit higher than their actual belly button, which is then concealed by high-waisted pants or skirts, to make their torso appear shorter and their legs appear longer.
I guess, they are also showing the belly button too.

Well, I saw plenty of offensive clothes with vulgar prints on or just Walmart-people style, so maybe that's not a totally bad thing.
Sometimes wish, people here would get a general guidance too.

Then we wouldn't have fun websites to look at, like People of Walmart. They're an interesting breed. If I'm ever visiting a big city I may try to stop in a Walmart to view these creatures first hand. Nothing like that in my neck of the woods.
But the only time clothes have hurt my feelings is when I can't zip them up anymore.
LOL! Some of my clothes have been feeling tighter lately. Makes me sad.
They must be shrinking in the wash, or are otherwise defective.
