Are you so sheltered that that is what you think openly gay means?
You dont have to be flaming to be openly gay.
I agree. I'm openly gay and I'm FAR, FAR from being a hairdresser type. Most of the gay people I know are lawyers, business professionals, work in restaurants, etc... The hairdresser or flight attendant stereotype is just that... a stereotype, and does not represent the majority.
To me it doesn't matter one way or another if my hairdresser is gay. I've had gay and straight. You either have rapport with them or you don't. The end result is what I seek, a great cut and/or color. But if your hairdresser is entertaining while you are there, great. Why sit in boredom for an hour or more.
But $100 for a hair cut is a rip off. They must have to pay mucho dollars for their high end station within the salon. But the haircuts just aren't that much better than a $30 haircut. I remember a coworker of mine who paid $200 for her color to be done, insisting it was way better than mine (I paid $45). Once I saw her color job, I could not agree, the blend was unnatural and streaked. She thought it looked sun kissed. More $$$ does not equal better. Just my opinion.

But, yes... my hairdresser is gay LOL!
LOL, I'm also gay but I'm far from "flaming". However, we do have one gay hairdresser in my small town who is VERY feminine, he is also very expensive and has no problem getting customers (nearly all women). In fact, you have to be on some exclusive list of his to be able to get an appointment, basically you need to know somebody.
I had a hairdresser once who seemed gay, but wasn't. Does that count? I have no problem with the stereotypical "flaming" gay guys cutting my hair if they do a good job and I like them. Right now I go to a gal who is probably 12. She's not, but she seems like a baby. But, I think she does a great job and that is what matters to me.
Sounds as though one gets free entertainment for the cost of a haircut. Win win.
