I make my own 40's duds - I buy up all kinds of vintage patterns and sometimes if I'm lucky, I can find vintage fabric too. I used to go out lindy hopping a lot and that's basically what everyone wore out - 40's style clothing.

I love vintage, and I think wearing elegant detailed clothing adds depth to todays starlets. I do think as women get older they should be careful with these looks, and make sure the effect is fashionable and not frumpy. But it depends on the woman and for many of us it is very satisfying to wear clothing of a quality that is no longer accessable to the average woman.

Hi Ladies
A real connosieur here of the 40s look. I just love seeing those ladies dressed in the fashion and hairdos of that decade. Now those 50s pageboys, etc. do nothing for me. 50s dress kind of fell apart, but assuming the woman of the world was in a different role by then, I guess that's what was to be.

It's really cute. I like the retro mini dresses and some of the vintage jewlery.

40's styles are my absolute favorite. Especially pinup girls. In fact, I was a nurse last halloween as a tribute to Betty Page, and I was a Navy girl this halloween. Red lipstick and soft curls with both outfits.

I think the golden age fashions reflected a time that was not always easy, but one in which people knew how to make the most of what they had, and of themselves. Class and style all the way, men and women.
I love that everyone wore hats back then. Would that they were still so popular.

I like 40s and 50s, but the more elegant styles...the pin-up girl look is not my taste.

I agree that the age of the woman trying to wear these clothes is a major factor. I'm 50....so I would just look like I saved my high school clothes.
