Yeah, it might be a matter of getting used to. It felt like scalping to me! After getting rid of the most painful front row I kept the rest for a while.

Once or twice, people have been bold enough to grab a handful of my hair and make comments about how "cool" or "different" they are.

I've never seen the combination of locks and cornrows. How did you manage that?

As an afterthought, I must say that I have never seen locks that look good on a non-black person or someone lacking naturally curly, kinky hair. The look and the process itself has much to do with a texture that naturally supports it without using yucky stuff like adhesives, glues and gels that many other races do when mimicking the style. No offense intended.
I did not lock the front of my hair, which is how I have corn rows in the front and dreds in the back

I do like them on black women. It's true, they didn't look all that great on me, but my point was they hurt!
Did you get less attention from men on the streets when you had cornrows ?

Well, I was on vacation with my then husband and I removed them after coming back, so I can't quite tell what the impact was on the male population. I thought they were cute and fun on vacation, but I wouldn't have them on a regular basis. Regardless of all PC BS, certain things look good on people of certain races.

Ya know ... dreads could be my new look. I could be the only ballroom diva sportin' a dread. Talk about unique. Maybe I should accessorize with a spliff attached to my gown. Hmmmmm .....

I think I might die if I see dreadlocks on a ballroom dancer. Just as I almost died a few days ago when I discovered a new item in the mall - panties & bra sets (I mean just miniatures of real bras with underwire and all...) for about perhaps 7-8-year olds! They don't even have boobs! And whoever thinks this crap is not being sent down the pipes deliberately can check his temperature. I'm pretty sure no parent requested them! I mean, Sluts 'R Us! And then you wonder why all hell breaks loose...

I can't believe the garbage being marketed to young girls. If I was a parent I'd be horrified

This stuff just stopped me dead in my tracks and I'm not a prude! I just thanked my lucky stars I decided I couldn't possibly raise a child in this country in this day and age. I'd wanna strangle him/her.

I have locs. I am a professional black woman with an MBA and I work for the Federal Government outside of DC. There are many, many black professionals here that wear natural styles and locs. Most have very neatly groomed locs and wear them curly, rolled, pinned in a bun etc.. I love them and they are so versatile. I wash my hair more now than I did when it was relaxed.

This woman is my LOC IDOL I LOVE her hair and she is just GORGEOUS!

YouTube - REQUEST- LOC UPDO

Someone tell me she is not fly!... And by the way I have NEVER done drugs.

HOWEVER, I don't like my men wearing locs. I like men either faded or bald.
