Actually what makes them hard is the pocket of tissue that holds them tightens up and hardens into scar tissue, squeezing down on the implant. You have to massage your boobs for (x) amt of time after getting any implant to prevent this. BUT according to my surgeon consult, he said that is not a guarantee.Bodies can scar with all the right treatment just depending on the individual. The girls who had saline were not rock boobs but the silicone ones feel way more real. If you do get them talk to your doctor about the under the muscle option for a smoother feel.
That's what I read. It's a syndrome, there's a name for it and it's not that uncommon. The implant matters less than the scar tissue. In addition to looking a bit weird, it can hurt quite a bit as well. I just don't need my chest to ache every time that a storm front is moving through. I've had a couple of surgeries and a couple of broken bones and while it took years, the discomfort finally caught up, just like grandma with the rheumatism said that it would.
I did some research on this a few years ago. I decided against it for a few reasons:
1. Encapsulation. That's the hardening of the scar tissue that people have been talking about here. It can get so bad that the doctor has to manually break it up by squeezing and squishing the tissue (i.e. your breasts!). Sounds fun, doesn't it? Apparently, this happens to 10% of the women who get implants. That was just too high a risk for me!
2. Mammograms are affected. Yes, they can scan around it, etc. However, I'd really prefer that they not have to do that when they're looking for lumps! Besides, mammograms are stressful and painful enough without having the technician manipulate the implants.
3. Replacement factor. I've also heard that 10-15 years is a good life span for breast implants. I don't know about any of you, but I'm not independently wealthy and can't afford to replace 'em that often! The 1% savings is a good idea, but other things tend to take priority (rent, food... )
4. Perky breasts, aging me. It would be strange to be 55 or 60 years old with everything else sagging and wrinkling, but my breasts look great!
5. Expensive!!! I can think of a lot of other things to spend $6,000 on.
Also, there are many men in this world who like women with natural (small) breasts. Padded bras are my friend to make me look more balanced, too. I wish I was more naturally "gifted", but such is life! I'm an "A" cup, but hey, I'm 45 and they're still where they should be!
I guess everyone just wants what they don't have. I am a DDD and I wish I were small because the weight of them make my shoulder's ache. I wish there were a way for big breasted women to give some of their "boobage" to smaller breasted women. That said, I don't have a problem with implants as long as the woman can pay for them. It's their business, not mine.
Now that they're everywhere, I think they've lost their uniqueness. The flat girls are the ones who stand out now- you won't see a fashion model with DDDs, that's for sure.
True, but you have to remember that Runway models are basically living breathing walking clothes hangers with no shape at all.
rock hard only comes from saline implants........ cohesive gel silicone are not hard at all.
Um, that's not true.
I told you earlier in this thread, I know quite a bit about BA's.
The 'rock hard' feel is CC not the implant. I know a girl who has the BEST most natural BA I have ever seen, and her's are saline, while another gf has co gels and they look and feel horrible.

If you get them DONE RIGHT they will NOT be rock hard. PERIOD.
If you take care of yourself, if you do everything your doc tells you, if you don't have some weird heriditary condition that causes excess scarring....... they will NOT be hard. PERIOD.
Not all boob jobs come out being HARD. I have MET plenty of girls who's boobs felt completely NATURAL and they had boobs jobs. It's ignorant to make such a generalization of things when there is such a WIDE spectrum of outcomes.
Is it cheaper to have a breast reduction and lift compared to going larger? About the same? Just wondering how it compares cost wise and procedure/recovery wise.

id imagine it is cheaper since you're not paying for a pair of implants????
I have had it done. Have not had any problems, and I am so glad that I did!
And as I look, I see there are plenty of older threads about it on here.
Thanks.
