But I cant spend that kinda money on a bag. I am not sure I would want to carry one like that in a city for mugging reasons..But oh man they are so pretty in an understated way. I love how some of them have just a touch of a retro classics vibe to them.
I think LV's canvas line is way too overrated, way too overpriced for the quality, and not at all attractive. I like some of the Balenciaga, Jimmy Choo, or Prada bags. Some of Marc Jacbos and Gucci bags are doable. I like leather, "fun" or "funky" styles with metal, fringes and so on. Chanel is quality, but I find the designs boring and a little too "conservative/classic" for my taste.
My current bag of the moment is a Coach Legacy Shoulder Bag I got at the outlet late last year-just loving the bag, the leather and the color-and the 2 outside "turnkey" pockets which are so convenient for a cell phone and whatever else you need to reach quickly. (Also loving that I only paid about a third of retail lol!)
Both Marc Jacobs and Michael Kors I believe have 2 separate "lines", one more moderately priced.
I also like Brighton organizer bags. They are fun and very reasonably priced and very comfortable to carry. Another mid-priced, Brahmin, makes a decent bag, although they haven't had any styles that really fascinated me lately.
I never got the attraction to Hermes, but of course just my opinion.
And I despise any "signature print" by anyone on canvas. If I am spending decent money on a bag, I am going leather. The whole "walking billboard advertisement" thing just isn't my style.
For folks not interested in spending an arm and a leg, Fossil makes some pretty nice leather bags. As does Frye-the boot people. And Cole Haan.
Kate Spade is a little to "plain" for me. Since Dooney discontinued the AWL, the only bags they make that I care for are the Alto line-I don't want ice cream cones, candy, zebras or cowboys on my bags lol!
I also like Coach - but only the Legacy vachetta leather line from 2006/07 - I dont like what they sell now - I was lucky to get them for cheap at the outlet.
My new love is Balenciaga - which is expensive but can be bought cheaper used on Ebay.
I was just going to say, the last time I looked at designer bags (with no intention of buying, BTW) I wanted to buy a Balenciaga at Barney's. And there was a wonderful patent leather bag by MCMIII or something like that in Bloomingdales that was super cute, too.
But that said, at the time I was carrying a very plain 8 year old red leather Monsac. Now I've switched back to my very cute and roomy Harajuku Girls tote bag. It's almost spring, you know.
I can afford to go out and spend $2000 on a bag twice a year but in my circle it's not done and I have no motivation to do it.
I love Coach but can't afford more than a couple from the outlet store. For a lower end bag, I like Nine West and Fossil.
