I've always had at least one pair of organically grown locally made hemp shoes. They're super comfy, have awesome ventilation and are the same price as 'normal' shoes. There's a place near my town that is called The Hemp Shack and they sell a lot of hemp/bamboo/alternative fabric organically made clothing.
I have owned several pairs of Patagonia shoes, I like the idea of eco-friendly footwear. I think it's great that Ked's is doing a line! However, part of the appeal is supporting a company that is in general eco-friendly... I hope Keds also uses or will switch to recycled boxes, minimalist marketing materials, etc.
I think eco-friendly shoes are a great idea! I mean as long as they are comfortable and supportive why not help save the world and help out your feet as well. My mom loves slippers at Daniel Green.com, and he offers a eco-friendly slipper. They look super cute! I think it's a possible gift idea for mom!
