so just appreciate it for what it is; and if you appreciate art, allow it to stimulate your mind and imagination and take something away from it that does enrich your life.
I think it is art. And when you accept it as art, than no it is not "overrated". Art is what you make of it. I will also readily admit, like many schools of art, I don't "get" lots of haute couture, but it is still meaningful to many people.
I dont even know what it is. I just wear what i like. If its haute couture, hot culture, art deco, or whatever i simply wear what i like.
Art deco is a type of visual design style. It's claim to fame is when the design is used for architecture. I wouldn't be surprised if a clothing designer incorporated some elements of art deco to a dress or piece.

I never thought I'd find myself watching a documentary on haute couture but this one on PBS was really good. I never realized just how expensive these clothes were, easily $100,000 for one dress.
