I wear leggings with shorter dresses and it works out fine for me. They have a bit more substance than the normal black tights I would wear in the winter. I see leggings as mostly underwear though and wouldn't wear an outfit where my butt wasn't completely covered by my top with leggings. That's when jeans or other slacks are in order.

I totally agree that there is a way to wear leggings.

Thank you for responding.

There are certain things that certain body types shouldn't wear, including things that skinny women don't look good in, so don't jump on me because this is a "plus" thread. Leggings are one of the things fat/large/chunky/"plus" women shouldn't wear.

Although some of us don't agree because we've seen them flatter our "body types" , you're totally entitled to your opinion!

I know this post is for plus-sized women, but I really hate leggings. I used to wear them in the 80's and I think that's one fashion trend that should stay in the 80's, no matter what size you are.

Your statement would only be correct (in my opinion) if the leggings are worn with a short shirt or anything else that shows more than from the mid-thigh down. From mid-thigh down, they are very flattering.....and comfortable.

ITA! It's like you mention plus size and people's minds go to the worst thing they can think of .

Shoulder pads are coming back in again?

Woo-hoo!

As for leggings, I've worn them before, although 20 years later not sure if I'd wear them again. I liked the ski-pant style, with the strap around the arch of the foot. I wore them with a really long tuxedo shirt.
