You all gave me such great advice about jeans, I figure I'd ask about the shoes, too.
So, what kind of shoes or sneakers (preferably something comfortable) go well with non-Mom jeans? And what should I absolutely avoid?

Thank you!

Avoid white sneakers! Other than that, I would say it depends on the jeans and the situation....flats, heals, boots...pretty much anything - except for white keds!

anneee, any brand like northface, new balance are good. I prefer gray sneakers as they go with everything (black, blue, even light brown).
marshalls carries new balance, so you can find them for cheaper than usual stores. if you have an outlet nearby try there too. i wear sneakers when outing with my kids, if it is a rainy day i wear my northface sneakers, if it is a nice day i wear allstars. avoid white and black.

Hi! Nice flip flops/thong type sandals that are beaded or bejeweled, or a "slide" type shoe. Are you talking about wearing out to an event, Saturday morning shoppping?

Just no grasshopper "sneakers".
Grasshoppers Shoes - Official Site - Women's Canvas Shoes & Leather Sneakers (http://www.grasshoppers.com/jump.jsp?itemID=105&itemType=CATEGORY - broken link)

Or other related type shoes like SAS shoes.

Flats, boots, sandals, etc. Depends on the length of the jean if you want a heel or not. I'd get some to wear w/ a higher heel to dress up and some shorter to wear with flats. I'm not a jeans and sneaker type person. There are some types of "sneaker" type shoes that are not exactly real athletic that look okay w/ jeans I think Sketchers has some.

I have to disagree...worn white Keds without laces are good. White Converse, once beaten a bit, are GOOD. Especially with cuffed legs. It's the new DON'T-GET-ME-DIRTY thing that makes 'em so tired.

(I myself usually stick to black hightops...I have the All Star leather version. And just for fun, silver sequin and red velvet...waiting to score the gold metallic.)

The only time I wear sneakers is either when I'm working out or walking all day long at a place like Disney World. Normally, when I wear jeans, I pair them with cute wedges or flats.

I'm partial to certain styles of skater shoes. Some of them are just hideous, but there are quite a few that are styled really nicely and when paired with jeans they look REALLY good. I'm a chick by the way, and I LOVE my skater shoes! :P

Is there an REI near you? Try on some lightweight hiking shoes, they go well with jeans. Something by Merrill, Patagonia, Keens, Vasque etc. Most of them are very comfortable as well.
