I worked in retail and I wore leather skirts and pants when I was younger. I would certainly think a leather jacket would always be appropriate.
I think leather skirts and pants would be really classy to wear at certain places like office jobs, upscale retail stores, banks and public relations jobs.
Depends on your job. Probably. I have a plain black leather skirt short-ish but not mini, that I wear to my office job in the winter. I think it looks nice with tights and a nice sweater or whatever. Now, if it was a snakeskin or printed leather or ultra short or just out of date, then I would say no. Also, I tend to think leather is for fall/winter. I personally wouldn't be wearing it this time of year.
Only if it a jacket that your going to eventually take off!
The noise generated from wearing leather is enough to be a distraction in the workplace, which is seen as unprofessional.

Just curious. How does a leather jacket make noise when you are sitting at your desk? I could see leather pants making noise if you are up and about a lot. Never heard of a jacket being noisy?
Think leather sofas and how simply sitting down produces a certain noise. Even the simplest of tasks (turning to file, turning to ask a co-worker something, walking to the restroom, going to lunch or break etc) creates unecessary sound when your wearing leather.
