Ok wait a minute, I have worn slippers going to pick up the kiddos at the mall or the theater late a night. Now I don't go shopping in the slippers. But I have worn them outside of my driveway.
Although I really don't gussy up when I go out and about....why should I. I am not impressing anyone. Like my favorite T-shirt says I am a T-shirt and jeans kind of girl...and flip floops!

There is a huge difference between just wearing them in the car and going into stores or eating establishments.

What if you had car trouble and had to walk to a highway exit or something, not at night, but sometime else--do you keep walking shoes in your car? Not flip "floops" either! I personally think those are dangerous to drive in. I've worn a sandal that got caught between the gas and brake pedals. I'm not that casual a girl, I guess. Don't agree with any of the current, don't care fashions at all. A lot of today's trends make me think (and bite my tongue to keep quiet), please have some respect for others when you're in public, if not for yourself. I think people think, like Lynne Truss said quoting Bart Simpson, I believe, "My bubble, my rules!" No!!!
Its become the done thing here in Glasgow , just saw two young women pass with the full rigout on, slippers, and pyjamas, what the hell is going on.. I always thought of these things a bit intimate and only worn in the house.. seems not and what a daft fashion.......
IMHO, slippers should never be worn past the end of the driveway. It is acceptable to run out in the morning to get the newspaper, but that is it!
I don't wear mine in the driveway, it gathers dirt, no thanks. I put on shoes to go get the mail. Noone outside will ever see me wear slippers! No way!
Much as I would love to wear my slippers out to the store or post office or whatever, I never would. First, it's classless and gross. Second, I would never be able to wear them in the house again! I don't allow shoes in my house due to all the filthy crap you can step in all day --- if I wore my slippers outside, I wouldn't wear them inside. I think a pair of "mailbox slippers" might be a good idea but ONLY if they stay by the door and are taken off before walking around in the house.
I also may be a little OCD on this, but even when I see people on TV walking through their homes with shoes on or (GASP!) getting on a bed with shoes on, it completely skeeves me out!!! I want to SCREAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
