There are a lot of "dreamy" fragrances that I think a man could very comfortably wear... for example, Ambre Gris is delicious, if you are into that amber base. Very smooth.
Oh, and I almost forgot- Tommy Bahama Set Sail St. Barts will most certainly take you away, you'll be sitting on the docks sipping a margarita before you know it! That particular one wasn't for me, but it definitely felt (smelled) like a vacation in a bottle of cologne! I believe a man could seriously go with either the female or male version. Here are the notes, from Fragantica:
Top notes are lime and musk; middle notes are guava, green notes; base notes are guaiac wood and musk.

I love this thread! (Furiously taking down notes.) I don't really have much to contribute except "At the Beach 1966" by CB I Hate Perfume. Smells exactly like Coppertone. Sometimes I'll actually put on Coppertone lotion during the winter just to remind me of summer and the beach and childhood.

Oh yes, and Bobbi Brown Beach, which I personally adore.
I don't wear perfume any longer but when I did I liked Jungle Gardenia and White Shoulders. Not sure if they are even made any more, but I always thought they were dreamy and romantic with JG being a little exotic.
