Basketball shorts or jean shorts. That's it.

I guess guys look ok in plaid shorts too, the biggest problem I have is that guys don't seem to care about matching with those, or guys don't care about matching at all and with plaid it just seems more obvious. Yesterday, I saw a guy with brown and blue plaid shorts with a yellow, black, and white striped polo. Wow. Are you trying to clash? I like to think that maybe if plaid shorts were never invented, he would be wearing black jean shorts with that polo. But I think I'm just telling myself that so I can sleep at night.

I don't think men look hot in any shorts. Acceptable at best!

Even if they have built legs?

That's weird. My general rule is that only one can have the stripes. If my shorts are plaid, I'll be going for the plain darker polos, or white, depending on the colour of the stripe.

This would be my combo on an average weekend. Actually, I own all of these.

Plaid (http://www.express.com/plaid-flat-front-shorts-25805-612.pro?user_att_name=Interest&user_att_value=Emai l&Mcatpn=Pants+%26+Shorts&Mpper=3&Mcatg=cat_1&Mcat p=cat_66&Mcat=612&Mrsaa=*&Mpos=24&Mcatn=Shorts&Mpg =SEARCH%2BNAV&Mrsavf=*&Mppg=0 - broken link) + Dark (plain brown or black)

Plaid (http://www.express.com/plaid-casual-shorts-25976-612.pro?user_att_value=Email&user_att_name=Interes t&Mppg=0&Mcatpn=category&Mpper=3&Mcatg=cat_1&Mcat= 612&Mcatp=cat_66&Mpos=18&Mrsaa=*&Mcatn=Shorts&Mpg= SEARCH%2BNAV&Mrsavf=* - broken link) + White

Dark (http://www.express.com/striped-flat-front-dress-shorts-26400-612.pro?user_att_value=Email&user_att_name=Interes t&Mppg=0&Mcatpn=category&Mpper=3&Mcatg=cat_1&Mcat= 612&Mcatp=cat_66&Mpos=14&Mrsaa=*&Mcatn=Shorts&Mpg= SEARCH%2BNAV&Mrsavf=* - broken link) + White (can't find the one I bought, plain white polo with an exploded lion that was pitch black and not red as in this one)

Sometimes, I go bizarre:

White (http://www.express.com/flat-front-shorts-25789-612.pro?user_att_value=Email&user_att_name=Interes t&Mppg=0&Mcatpn=category&Mpper=3&Mcatg=cat_1&Mcat= 612&Mcatp=cat_66&Mpos=19&Mrsaa=*&Mcatn=Shorts&Mpg= SEARCH%2BNAV&Mrsavf=* - broken link) + plain green or Red

Also, this is one of my best shorts (http://www.express.com/check-flat-front-shorts-26712-612.pro?user_att_value=Email&user_att_name=Interes t&Mppg=0&Mcatpn=category&Mpper=3&Mcatg=cat_1&Mcat= 612&Mcatp=cat_66&Mpos=12&Mrsaa=*&Mcatn=Shorts&Mpg= SEARCH%2BNAV&Mrsavf=* - broken link). Dark blue checks and goes great with my light blue polo. I actually vary these with full sleeve polos too (express and lacoste). Some of these pieces are striped.

And to finish this combo, if the legs don't have the right shoes, they are the ultimate spoiler. I usually go with this skechers (except that it's a white shoe with light coffee brown stripes, fell in love with it rightaway ) or my kswiss (http://www.kswiss.com/item/17.11/02248-087/Men/Footwear_Originals/The_Classic/Charcoal_White.html - broken link) (this one's actually lacklustre, the one I got was similar but dark brown and part of the designer collection from some jewish shoe designer named Yigal something, who briefly collaborated with kswiss) or sometimes, the lacoste shoes (they sell amazing casual sneakers)

You may have guessed by now that I'm a clothing snob

And last but not least, ankle socks are a must and I vary between black and white ones which tend to contrast well with the shoes and the shorts.

Man I haven't spent so much time on one post in CD ever. That's how much I love my shorts Aaaaaaaaaand Mrs Chamataka always tells me I'm high maintenance.

You put a lot more thought into it than I do.

Then it is OK. But be warned; you will get a lot of attention from women, especially if you are over 6' tall and they are really toned and well-formed. Some will love them; and others will hate you for having better legs than they do.

So, the girlfriend took me shoe shopping yesterday. I was wearing that plaid express shorts up there and a white pique polo, with the skechers shoes.

So she picked this one for me in just 7 to 10 seconds. I can't find the same colour in zappos. It's the same shoe except the colour is that of the stripes in my shorts, a variant of ash.

Polo Ralph Lauren Latton Canvas at Zappos.com

The combo was just too amazing that I was left admiring the shoes for a loooong time
