Again, there is a big difference between sloppy and spending tons of money on your self. How about somewhere in the middle. Pay attention to your haircut, try to lose some weight, comb your hair, shave and wear pleasant clothes. So many working class people now days can not even find the middle anymore.

I learned a long time ago that any attempt to lump people together based on generalizations ... well ... generally, it fails.

What other people wear, how they spend their leisure time, or what they do with their discretionary income makes no difference to me. Live and let live.

wear pleasant clothes
That's the funniest thing I've read in ages. Thanks for the laugh.

How do you define that?

Where I live, hose and heels are idiotic. Pleasant clothes would be boots or sturdy shoes and, depending on whether you are off to take care of your horses or simply off to the park to enjoy the day, pants or shorts.

25 miles west of me, in the city, pleasant could be sandals and a sundress. Totally impractical and quite unpleasant to wear around my parts unless you are simply sitting on your porch.

Many blue-collar type workers don't have to look good most of the time; it's not expected due to the nature of the work they do.

I know that this was the case when I worked in a "blue collar" type of job (which I loved!!).

They work long hours and usually show up places, (kids school program, wal-mart etc.) after a doing a 12 and don't have time like some one who can punch out at 4:55 to go home a change into their other clothes , and oh yeah they work in every day clothes so they would just put on a clean set of work clothes, no changing out the suite to go shoot a round, and they might be on call anyway if some one on third shifts gets fired or sick, or calls in. And after spending 40 hours a week fighting Management , why would want go home and dress up like one of those jerk wads on the weekend?
