For those in the know. I was listening to an audio book while driving to work. One of the characters talked about the calf skin handle of her LV purse. Just for fun, I went to the LV site to see how much.

Goodness! I knew they were expensive but for not real leather? It clearly states the traditional "canvas" LV body or something like that, with only the trim being real leather.

For some reason, I always thought the brown body with the LV initials on it was leather. Did it used to be?

When they first started making steamer trunks they were leather but the logo line has always been vinyl impregnated cloth (canvas)

A few lines are still in leather. The Suhali and Epi are both in 100% leather and without print or pattern. The logo is placed discreetly at the bottom right, once, not plastered all over the bag. I bought my Epi in Europe, and since red was not available in the States and there were only two of them in the entire country of Ireland that year, I grabbed one and did not let go. Still looks as beautiful and new today as it was 12 years ago.

LV bags last forever. I have one that is almost over 35yrs. old and I can still use it. It's really an investment.

They had some limited edition designer bags that were lined in red alcantara "suede substitute". But the exterior of the signature bags are covered canvas.
