I truly think many people don't have a realistic picture of what they look like to others. Please, America, if you have anything about your body that is not attractive, cover it up.
I was just in a restaurant and saw a 400# woman in a nylon knit strapless tube dress. I never saw her from the front, thank God. I have a feeling I'd be having nightmares.
It's always the heaviest people wearing the skimpiest, tightest things.
And if the older woman wore a bra with her tank top, someone would complain that her bra straps are showing.
(Frankly, I think showing bra straps is a good thing--at least then you know she's wearing one.)
It doesn't take seeing one's bra straps to know someone is wearing a bra under her tank top. Most people could tell when a woman is not wearing a bra under certain types of tops.

I won't make fun but i've got to add that it's not only confined to women in their 70's. A friend of mine doesn't wear a bra and she's in her 30's. I've nagged her about getting one, she refused so hers is pretty low too.

I totally agree, especially if the bra is around the same color (or close to the color) of the tank top. I don't see a problem whatsoever...
