Those are NOT too short, and her legs look fine. Good for her, she is someone all moms who have gone on hot family vacations can relate to.

I only watch the news for a brief second as I change channels. I could care less is she wears shorts. There are so many prudes in this country, that she should tell them so herself. The woman is in Arizona in August on vacation, what is she suppose to wear a Formal Evening Gown?

Default Should the First Lady Wear Shorts

No. I think for the first lady crop pants, would have been a better choice.
If you were in your own living space, in the White House Yes. But as a represenative of the USA, ABSOLUTELY NO

I agree with a lot of you about this "story" being totally unnecessary. As far as I know, the "news" stations just dreamed it up for lack of anything important to talk about like the economy, the war, etc.

BUT, since it is in the news today..I don't think the shorts were very flattering for someone who is the latest fashion darling. They were bad.

They aren't even short shorts. Geez. It's what all of us wear when it's hot, nevermind on vacation. God help her if she decides to swim in something other than a tent.
LOL

I can't even believe this is news.

Her legs look fine, and the shorts are not too short at all.
I wouldn't call her choice fashionable at all though - she looks more like an average American on vacation in comfy clothes.

I say, of course she should be able to, but the ones she wore were too short and didn't look good.
I think she's fallen victim to her own hype as a fashion icon this time. She may look nice in sleeveless dresses but the thighs could use some work.
Shorts are OK, but it depends on who's wearing them. Michelle Obama honestly should stay away from them being the first lady. She's got ugly legs. Her figure is not her best feature. She's built like a box and certainly no Heidi Klum. I think she should use better discretion and judgment in how she presents herself. Outfits that show her ugly legs and extra-wide stance are not the way to go. Neither are dresses above the knees, which are especially hideous on her with or without flat shoes. No athletic lines on this woman.

Magnificent woman in every other respect of course, and I applaud her for being who she is and presenting herself in any manner that makes her comfortable. But she can do much better in this department.
