Gap's jeans are horrible. They look so bad on me and the quality is awful. That's exactly why I spend a little more $$ on my jeans. Designer stuff is made for skinnier people and it flatters me better than the gaps or old navys which are so freakin' baggy on me.
Can you recommend a brand and style for a tall, skinny female; preferably under $100? I've been wearing Gap long length [whatever cut] and I'm sick of how much they stretch out and don't really fit me all that well.
I'm really short, so can't help ya there, lol...hear ya on the gap thing! They don't look so great on skinny people.
Nothing is "out" in fashion today. Everything is "in", depending on what you like. Haven't you noticed that? It's one of the best things about the world today! I feel sorry for people who still act like slaves to the fashion industry, but they are doing it to themselves. Even the fashion industry doesn't want that anymore.

With my body type, bootcut jeans are a must. I'd rather wear them with a hoodie and look like I'm stuck in 1998 than wear tapered ones and look like a flashback from 1984.
Ever watch fashion shows like "What Not To Wear"? #1 rule: nothing tapered, pleated, or high-waisted, because it looks awful.
Ok I have to go shopping and get new jeans. Have we reached a concensus? I live in the Midwest, and bootcut is the new mom jean. I borrow my daughters' skinny jeans to wear under tunics, but are moms really expected to wear skinny jeans all the time . Please.

I think of bootcut jeans as Mom jeans too. Lol. I like skinny jeans that don't hug the ankle, stovepipe or drainpipe they are usually called.
I think a decent pair of trouser leg or straight leg jeans would work for most women. Skinny jeans may be fashionable right now, but they probably won't be fashionable in a few years. Forget fashion, stick with style.
Boot cut (not bell bottom) have become classic and do not go out of style.
Wear what is appropriate for your body type.
And I have seen PLENTY of people still wearing boot cut in Europe, so I don't know what OP is talking about.
