IMHO, it's all about you - if you like the ring, wear it. Although I prefer white gold and/or platinum, I do have several pieces of jewelry with both yellow and white gold - I'd wear it!
Something about the side-view that shows the stone shape and how high it is set reminds me of a class ring. I'd prefer it in all white gold and a little smaller.
Is this to be an engagement ring? It's too fancy for me, but I could see it being appropriate in a setting where everyone else is dressed up and blingy most of the time. It'd be a good ring for a fancy black tie event. If your other jewelry is a mix of yellow and white precious metals, then that ring would fit in. I prefer my jewelry to be made of 18K white gold and platinum.
But everyone's personal tastes are different. Shrug.

this is an anniversary ring. I wear it instead of my original engagement ring, which I am turning into a pendant. Hubby bought it for me and I just can't decide. Most everything I wear is 18k white gold...but I had been saying that I want to wear yellow gold and he got this for me. One day I love it, the next day I think the combination of 2 tone is too much. I love the center stone and sometimes I feel the setting detracts from the stone. But I like the halo and antique style, thats how my original engagement ring looked. I just think maybe with such a large stone this one should be simpler. His feelings would not get hurt so I am trying to decide if I should put it into a new setting,and just use the one above for my right hand (and put a yellow diamond or stone into it). Our anniversary and my bday is very close together so he gave me the ring above for my anniv. and a Cartier 18k gold and stainless steel 2-tone diamond watch for my bday to match.
WOW! That is a very pretty ring. Looks like someone has money to burn. It is way to gaudy, looks like something Older women wear (over the age of 50, or if your a rich celeb). Which anniversary was this?... This would be a good anniversary present if you had been married for 40-50 years. I would have told him to take it back and get me something else, but that's just me. And you say your turning your original engagement ring into a pendant?..Why? Do people still wear pendants anymore? Most people keep the original rings to give to their daughters. (Right from the start you should think of your engagement ring as an heirloom. Mothers and grandmothers dream of passing their engagement rings down to their daughters and granddaughters. From the time the ring is first placed on your finger, you should take precautions to insure that it can be used as an heirloom, no matter how many descendants may vie for its glitter in coming years.) I would NOT have it turned into a pendant unless you don't plan to have children at all. But again this is just my opinion. Good luck with your decision.
