Do you procure, or would you procure, hand-me-down clothes for your children, as long as they are clean? Or are do think yourself above that?
I don't have any kids, but I sure would for mine! At least until the age of 10. It's a cheap way to keep clothing on your children. My mom did it quite often. She was the middle child of a family with 7 children, so pretty much all the stuff she wore were hand-me-downs (and she still wears a lot of hand-me-downs from my grandma!)
We've got two small children and probably 95% of all their clothes (and a smaller percentage of their toys) are hand me downs from friends, neighbors and relatives. Little kids grow out of stuff so quickly that it doesn't make sense to buy all their clothes brand new.
That being said, I'm sure that as they get older the ratio of new to old clothes will shift towards more new stuff.
If my kids want name brands then they come from re-sale shops. The mark up for a label is ridiculous. Since ripped up pants and distressed looks are cool, why not go for hand-me-downs.

My kids have worn hand me downs and even gave clothes away
as long as they are in good condition and clean, why not
I love hand me downs
My nephews wear expensive designer clothes and often give my boys their hand me downs, my boys love their older cousins
But I dont get it when women of 40 will wear hand me downs from a women of 70.
The same age group they work well..
I remember when my daughter started kindergarten and told me she wanted 'ticket' clothes. We had no idea what she meant until she explained she wanted clothes that had store tickets hanging on them. Due to the good church group of moms, we just passed our used clothes around for years. It never occurred to me that she noticed.
So I took her out to buy some new outfits for school and she almost cried when we had to cut the tickets off.
Thats something you can get away with when your kids are young. When they start school, its kind of a no..no. Where I live the public schools incorporated uniforms, khakis and collared golf type shirts, everyone looks the same, so there are no clothes identity issues until they get to middle school and high school, when second hand clothes become a definite no..no.
I think the question should be - why wouldn't anyone recycle kid's clothes?
