These are so beautiful.

I also really love literary tattoos, although I have none.

One thing I have a hard time figuring out is where do peole get the money to pay for all of this?
One would assume by working - you know, at a job where they pay you for providing a service?

Some people also barter for tattoos, get them from friends, apprentices, etc... or they just do a little at a time, whenever they have extra cash. I've had half of a back-piece for almost three years, since I can't justify the $200/session (about 3 sessions left) & time spent to get it done now! Thankfully it's not going anywhere, so I just have to make sure the artist doesn't disappear before I have the cash/time.

I've never been a svelte or "tight-bodied" woman, even when I was in my 20s... so yeah, that isn't an issue for us non-skinny people. Matter of fact, I'm nearly 50lbs lighter than I was 10 years ago! Anyway, I'm not really sure why people always make this dumb "point." Are you saying a larger and/or wrinkled person can't look attractive with tattoos? Or that we get tattoos to please your senses? Both would be incorrect, at least in my opinion.

I think Mia Tyler in particular would disagree with that first question:

I swear, I'd consider going gay for this woman... LOL http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-5BgcOXy-5j.../lCA21LP23.jpg

P.S. What's the obsession with bashing tattoos on C-D? If you don't like them, don't get one... simple as that, really. I don't like cowboy hats or fake boobs, but don't feel the need to start threads over it.

I can read a tattooed person like reading a book , usually the more tats the weirder & crazier the person, usually someone seeking attention

always gotta wear a tank top on a cold day so people can see your tats

Do you REALLY think when (G-d willing) you get to that age, you'll care about other people (especially young'uns) not finding you attractive? Seriously?

I read a funny one of those e-cards the other day: When I'm old and wrinkled, and all the nursing home aides see my tattoos when they bathe me, they'll snicker and say "She must have been wild in her day!" Love that.

I haven't worn a tank top in probably 10+ years...

Funny you'd mention reading a book, though, seeing as I am a tattooed librarian! Bet you haven't read that story before, huh?

They are lovely. My next one, number 26, will be a quote from the Greek poet Horace.

At an advanced age it's not about looking attractive, it's about growing old gracefully. Being covered in tattoos isn't graceful in my unpopular opinion.

Don't know if home aides would think wild since most everyone they deal with will have ink blobs on their wrinkly skin. Maybe that's finally when tattoos will decrease in popularity...I have been waiting since 1990.

BTW the Mia Tyler picture appeals to me otherwise but her tatts are such a huge turnoff.
