Venues like Club Bounce and The Butterfly Lounge in California are aimed at people who may be made to feel unwelcome at certain fashionable nightspots because of their size.
Such clubs are a relatively new development, with a handful scattered across California, mainly in coastal cities such as San Diego and San Francisco.
I was driving thru West Virginia not long ago to go look at a horse and there was an ad on the radio for a Cash for Chunkers night at the local strip joint. I was like...WTH?
It all seemed rather degrading w/ mooing and farting noises in the background, telling women to beef up and come bare it all on their stage.
Grand prize was something like so many pounds of food for every pound they weighed and a cash prize.
Hmmmm well I can see that it is good that there is a place that people are larger and not judged but then again I would rather see people motivated to lose weight. Jeepers I'm not sure about this I guess
This is no different than any other club that caters to a certain demographic. We have black clubs, white clubs, country music clubs, latin clubs etc. Fat people like to have fun too ya know.

Black/white/latin/country does NOT equal the promotion and acceptance of being unhealthy.
No it's not. Embracing something means to accept it as your own. I can embrace Judaism but not promote it. If the owners of the club were promoting fatness, they would be encouraging others to adopt their lifestyle. The only encouraging I see is that they are telling fat folks to accept the way they are.

She's not telling people to go eat Popeyes every day come on.
